Shostakovich’s two piano trios (No.1 Op 8 and No.2 Op 67) are complemented by his wonderful, and rarely performed ‘Seven Romances on Poems of Alexander Blok’ Op 127, sung by Susan Gritton. A sneak – and very glorious – preview can be heard on the Hyperion Records website, from which you can also pre-order the CD for £13.99.  Its release date is Sunday 1st May 2011, but if you pre-order they send it out a week before. Perfect for Bank Holiday listening.
